December 9, 2025 - (Ottawa, ON) Sport Law is pleased to announce that Sarah Payne has joined the organization, bringing over 25 years of experience in the publishing industry to support the legal and governance needs of sport organizations.
A graduate of Carleton University’s School of Journalism, Sarah has built her career helping clients communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. She has extensive experience as an editor of legal, human resources, and educational books and online materials, and is passionate about helping organizations reach their full potential through strong, accessible written resources.
At Sport Law, Sarah specializes in transforming complex legal and governance information into practical, plain-language documents that boards, staff, and volunteers can easily use. She will support clients by drafting and editing policies, assisting with board handbooks, and creating easy-to-read compliance toolkits.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Sarah has spent many years supporting her two now-adult children in their athletic pursuits and is a firm believer in the character-building power of sport. She is excited to bring her editorial expertise and passion for sport to Sport Law, helping clients produce informative, well-researched, and thoughtful documents that contribute to a thriving sport environment.
“Joining Sport Law allows me to combine my love of clear communication with my passion for sport,” says Payne. “I look forward to helping organizations create resources that are both accessible and impactful.”
Steve Indig, Partner at Sport Law, adds, “Sarah’s ability to turn complex legal and governance information into clear, actionable guidance is a perfect fit for our team. Her expertise will help our clients navigate their responsibilities with confidence, ensuring their organizations are stronger and more effective."
