Sarah Payne

Sarah comes to Sport Law having worked in the publishing industry for over 25 years as an editor of legal, human resources and educational books and online materials. A graduate of Carleton University’s School of Journalism, she grew up with a passion for writing and has shaped her career by helping clients reach their highest potential with their own writing.

Sarah specializes in turning complex legal and governance information into practical, plain-language documents that are easily accessible for boards, staff and volunteers to use. Sarah supports Sport Law’s work by drafting and editing policy, assisting in the creation of board handbooks and building easy-to-read compliance toolkits.

A lifelong sports enthusiast and participant, Sarah has spent many of her adult years supporting her two now-adult children in their athletic pursuits and is a firm believer in the character-building power of sport.

Sarah is thrilled to be joining the Sport Law team to help clients create informative, well-researched and thoughtful documents that support a thriving sport environment.
