Kristin Noonan has been involved in sport for over 30 years as an athlete, provincial coach, parent, and administrator. After transitioning from teaching into the National Sport System over a decade ago, Kristin has focused on athlete development and coaching and has become an expert in safe sport. With experience at the NSO/MSO level, Kristin provides expertise and support to many organizations in safe sport implementation, through workshops, presentations, education, and resources for all levels.
After graduating from the University of Lethbridge with a B.A. in Kinesiology and a B.Ed. in Physical Education and Science, Kristin started her career in the school system, also receiving her Level 3 Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) from Algonquin College. Combining her passion of ASL and sport, she became the Manager for the National Women’s Deaf Volleyball Team, attending the 2013 Summer Deaflympics with Team Canada in Sofia, Bulgaria. Following these Games, she accepted a position with the Canadian Deaf Sports Association as the Manager of Sport Development and Outreach, responsible for building partnerships within the sector, while overseeing more than 20 national team sports. During this time, Kristin also attended the 2015 Winter Deaflympics in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, as a member of the Canadian delegation.
For more than 6 years Kristin led the way in Safe Sport with her work at Softball Canada as the Manager of Coaching and Safe Sport, not only focusing on education, awareness, and compliance at the national level but ensuring implementation of safe sport right down to the grassroots level. Kristin sat on the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) Mandated Safe Sport Training Task Force helping create the Safe Sport Training which is currently available today to sport leaders across Canada. Her work has been featured multiple times for paving the way for creating positive, safe, and accessible sporting environments.
Kristin lives in Prince Edward Island with her husband Craig, their 2 teenage children, and their black lab, Sawyer. Her family is always on the go with the kids being active in curling, hockey, basketball, badminton, volleyball, archery, softball, baseball, and pickleball. When not working (or chasing kids from sport to sport), Kristin plays volleyball, coaches softball, and listens to country music. Kristin served on the CAC NSO Executive Council for two years, currently volunteers for Special Olympics PEI, and is the Chair of Sport PEI’s Coaching Advisory Committee. Kristin became the first VIP Coach on Prince Edward Island (a safe sport program designed to raise the bar for what it means to be a coach) and is also an NCCP Multisport Learning Facilitator.
