Sport Law welcomes systems change and knowledge mobilization expert Sydney Millar to the team

December 1, 2021 – (Ottawa) Sport Law is committed to serving sport organizations in their desire to fulfill their mission and live their values. As we continue to expand services and support to help our clients tackle today’s complex issues, we are excited to announce Sydney Millar as the latest Sport Law recruit. Sydney joins the Sport Law team of passionate, committed, and talented sport consultants working to meet the increasing demand from sport leaders for trusted and credible thinking partners.

Sydney has worked in the Canadian sport sector for 25 years, including leadership roles with Canadian Women and Sport (then the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity) and the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC). In these roles, she developed and implemented successful national initiatives, leveraged the latest research and thought leadership to influence system change, and served as a valuable ally and resource for sport leaders and other sector stakeholders. Close collaboration with national, provincial/territorial, and community sport and physical activity organizations has ensured she understands the diverse needs, interests, and priorities across the country.

“Sydney’s track record and passion for making sport and physical activity a better place for girls and women and other underserved groups makes her a natural fit to join the Sport Law team,” shared Sport Law Partner, Dina Bell-Laroche. “As the sport sector looks to create more inclusive environments that foster a sense of belonging, we are grateful that Sydney will be able to support more strategic, collaborative, and evidence-based decision-making to help our clients thrive.”

Sydney’s in-depth knowledge of the sport sector and wide range of skills and experience will be valuable assets to Sport Law’s clients. Her areas of expertise include equity and inclusion, program design and implementation, knowledge mobilization and communications, and research and evaluation. “I am excited to be part of an organization whose vision is to elevate sport. Throughout my career, I have worked to influence positive change, and I am committed to contributing my skills to the exceptional Sport Law team to maximize impact for our clients,” Sydney said. “I look forward to rolling up my sleeves to engage with the sport community in this new capacity.”
