January 27, 2026 - (Ottawa, ON) — Sport Law is pleased to announce the re-launch of Governance Essentials, an interactive e-learning course designed to equip volunteer sport Directors and staff with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate today’s increasingly complex governance environment.
As expectations for accountability, transparency, and ethical leadership continue to rise, strong governance has never been more critical. Governance Essentials supports board members in fulfilling their fiduciary and ethical responsibilities while helping organizations manage risk, build trust, and foster safe, inclusive, and effective sport environments.
Board members play a central role in shaping positive sport experiences, yet evolving regulations and heightened expectations can expose volunteers and staff to unnecessary risk. Governance Essentials addresses these challenges through a practical, self-directed learning experience that empowers sport leaders to govern with clarity and confidence.
A Practical Course for Today’s Sport Leaders
Designed specifically for sport Directors and senior staff, Governance Essentials focuses on real-world applications. Participants can complete the course at their own pace, from anywhere, making it well-suited for busy volunteers and professionals.
