Olivia Pope

Sport Lawyer


Olivia began her legal career at a major national law firm in 2020 focusing on corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets and private equity. Olivia has acted for clients in the technology, clean energy, transportation, and oil and gas industries in relation to a variety of corporate transactions, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, private placements, public offerings, reverse-takeovers, asset and share transactions, and corporate reorganizations. Olivia brings to Sport Law a wealth of knowledge in corporate governance as well as extensive board experience as it relates to sport governance.

Olivia played for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League for two seasons representing Calgary Inferno (formally named Team Alberta) paving the way for the current Professional Women’s Hockey League. Olivia attended McGill University, where she competed as a varsity athlete, was president of varsity council, and part of several athletic and recreational committees and advisory boards. She attended three USport National Championships and won a National Championship in 2014. Olivia achieved Academic All-Canadian standing and was awarded the McGill Muriel V. Roscoe Award for best combining proficiency, community engagement and leadership in athletics as well as the Quebec RSEQ award for community involvement and leadership. Olivia further attended the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and played on both the men’s and women’s faculty hockey teams and was a member of the Sports, Entertainment and Law Society.

Olivia is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Calgary Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association.
